Caregivers from Texas, Tennessee, and Alabama Selected as Recipients of ScionHealth’s 2023 Monarch Caring and Community Award

LOUISVILLE, KY (September 21, 2023) – At the close of the company’s annual Caregiver Summit on Wednesday, Sept. 20, ScionHealth announced three recipients of its 2023 Monarch Caring and Community Award, the highest honor ScionHealth bestows upon its healthcare professionals. The annual award recognizes the company’s most exceptional caregivers working in its network of specialty hospitals, community hospitals and senior living communities who consistently go above and beyond to deliver excellent care, elevate the patient and senior living resident experience, and support their colleagues and communities.

ScionHealth’s 2023 Monarch Award recipients are:

  • Donna Kaufhold, a resident care assistant at Trinity Oaks of Pearland (Texas), an 80-resident senior living community;
  • Jade Moore, a registered care dietician at Kindred Hospital Chattanooga (Tennessee), a 49-bed specialty long-term acute care hospital; and
  • Renae Patterson, director of environmental services at Andalusia (Alabama) Health, an 88-bed community hospital.

“These recipients embody the mission of healthcare, of serving others in their times of need,” said Rob Jay, CEO of ScionHealth. “Each of our 2023 award-winners epitomizes the fact that regardless of job title, every teammate in our settings is a dedicated caregiver. These three individuals stand out for their ability to do their jobs exceptionally well and do so in a manner that positively impacts patients and residents, co-workers, their facility, and their community. We are humbled by their work, inspired by their passion, and honored to have them as part of the ScionHealth team.”

The three recipients were selected from among 86 award finalists within ScionHealth, a health system with approximately 25,000 total employees nationwide. All of the finalists were invited to attend the Caregiver Summit, which culminated with the announcement of the three honorees.

“Our recipients, and all of our nominees, consistently put the patient and resident first and treat each individual like they would their own family,” said Dr. Dean French, Chief Medical Officer of ScionHealth. “They view their roles as more of a vocation ‒ of caring for others ‒ than a job, and it shows in the enthusiasm, empathy, and compassion they bring to their facilities each day. It’s exciting to be able to use this Monarch Award platform each year to celebrate their success, share their stories, and inspire others to be the best caregivers they can be.”
