National Association of Long Term Hospitals (NALTH) Welcomes ScionHealth as New Member

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Association of Long Term Hospitals (NALTH) announced that ScionHealth, one of the nation’s leading providers of long-term acute care (LTACH) hospitals, has joined the association. ScionHealth’s membership significantly broadens NALTH’s national representation of LTACH hospitals and strengthens the industry’s unified voice at a time when medically complex patients face increasing barriers to accessing the specialized care they need.

ScionHealth operates a large network of LTACHs under the brands Kindred Hospitals, Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals, and Solara Specialty Hospitals, caring for tens of thousands of seriously ill or injured patients each year. Its addition to NALTH reflects a growing movement within the LTACH field to work collaboratively and advance forward-thinking solutions that support both patients and providers.

NALTH’s announcement comes as LTACHs nationwide continue to confront challenges related to Medicare Advantage prior authorization and reimbursement practices. These issues often delay or restrict access to medically necessary LTACH care, underscoring the need for a stronger, more unified advocacy presence in Washington and across the healthcare landscape. With ScionHealth joining its ranks, NALTH is better positioned to represent the full breadth of the LTACH community and champion policies that protect medically complex patients.

“As NALTH celebrates its 40th anniversary, our mission to unify and represent the entire LTCH field has never been more important,” said Chris Fox, President of NALTH. “ScionHealth’s membership meaningfully expands our national footprint and strengthens our ability to advocate for medically complex patients. Their participation reflects the industry’s growing commitment to collaboration, alignment, and forward-thinking solutions.”

As ScionHealth joins NALTH, Danny Brywczynski, Chief Operating Officer of ScionHealth, has been appointed to the NALTH Board of Directors, further strengthening the board’s depth of expertise.

“We are honored to join NALTH and contribute to the association’s  vital work on behalf of LTACH patients and providers,” Brywczynski said. “Our hospitals care for some of the most medically fragile individuals in the healthcare system. By working together through NALTH, we can strengthen advocacy efforts across the industry and ensure that patients receive timely access to the specialized care they need.”

With ScionHealth’s addition, NALTH further advances its commitment to strengthening the LTACH industry’s unified voice, expanding national representation, improving patient access to medically necessary LTACH care, and addressing the growing challenges posed by Medicare Advantage plans. The association remains focused on serving as the voice of the entire LTACH industry — not just a segment — and ScionHealth’s membership marks a significant step toward that goal.
