ScionHealth and M7 Health Partnering with Unique Solutions to Enhance Nursing Experience and Improve Retention

M7 Health’s Innovative Approach Helps ScionHealth Address National Nurse Shortages

Louisville, Kentucky and New York, New York, February 22, 2024: ScionHealth has partnered with M7 Health (M7), a 25m Health portfolio company, to roll out technology designed to make ScionHealth hospitals the employers of choice in their local communities. The system-wide expansion of M7’s platform follows successful pilots across two of ScionHealth’s community hospitals, Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center and Palestine Regional Medical Center.

M7 Health is a nursing workforce management platform that leverages preference data from staff to guide leaders in making fair, transparent, and cost-effective staffing decisions. In addition to fostering more flexibility and predictability for nurses, M7 generates workforce insights that unlock personalized retention strategies, more proactive recruiting efforts, and better job experiences for front-line staff and management alike.

Since implementing M7's platform, ScionHealth pilot hospitals have seen high daily engagement among staff, significant reduction in administrative time spent by nurse leaders, and cost savings driven by schedule optimization.

Nurses are the foundation of health care delivery and the patient journey across our nation’s medical system. The ongoing shortages in the nursing profession require implementing innovative retention strategies and cost-effective staffing decisions. According to the American Nursing Association, there are significant expenses associated with hiring and training, which may cost $3.6 to $6.5 million annually per hospital in our country.

“We are proud to team up with M7 Health and begin implementing their platform across our enterprise of Community and Specialty Hospitals to deliver transparency and fairness in nurse scheduling and provide our valuable nurses with a flexible culture with new opportunities for autonomy,” said Rob Jay, CEO of ScionHealth.

“M7 is the tool I wish I had as a nurse. It was built to help nurse leaders better understand their staff members’ unique work-life needs and leverage that information to make fair, equitable and cost-effective staffing decisions. With M7’s platform, nurse leaders can finally devise optimal staffing plans without spending hours behind spreadsheets, enabling them to spend more time providing hands-on support to their teams,” commented Ilana Borkenstein, RN, Cofounder and CEO of M7 Health. “ScionHealth has been a phenomenal innovation partner for M7. From the corporate leadership team to facility-level leaders, including Chief Nursing Officers Tracy Marchky and Christy Moody, we have strong support and forward-thinking partners.”

Leadership in both hospitals are excited to expand the pilot across new hospital locations. Christy Moody, MSN, RN, Chief Nursing Officer of Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center states, “It has been exciting to launch M7’s platform and understand how, as nurse leaders we can better support a life-work balance for our dedicated caregivers, improve team morale, and improve healthcare for our patients.”

ScionHealth’s commitment is to caring and delivering medically appropriate care for our local communities and to cultivate a positive patient experience as we deliver the right level of care at the right time.
