Five ScionHealth Hospitals Named to Becker’s 2025 Listing of Great Community Hospitals

Five community hospitals operated by ScionHealth were among the 100 hospitals nationwide featured in the Becker’s Hospital Review (Becker’s) 2025 listing of “Great Community Hospitals” released on Friday, July 11. The ScionHealth hospitals included in the list are Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center (Hartsville, SC); Logan (WV) Regional Medical Center; Southwestern Medical Center (Lawton, OK); St. Joseph Regional Medical Center (Lewiston, ID); and Watertown (WI) Regional Medical Center. Carolina Pines, Logan Regional, and Southwestern were the only hospitals in their respective states to make Becker’s 2025 listing.

According to Becker’s, hospitals recognized in the listing are “dedicated to clinical excellence, academic advancement, and personalized, whole-person care delivery. Their mission is to elevate health outcomes within the communities they serve.”

Becker’s editorial team selected the 100 hospitals for inclusion based on their nominations and the insights from respected rankings and ratings organizations, including U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, CMS, The Leapfrog Group, the National Rural Health Association, and The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

In its announcement, Becker’s highlighted the value of community hospitals, noting that “Community hospitals play a vital role in the fabric of the U.S. healthcare system, delivering accessible, affordable care to patients beyond major metropolitan areas. Whether serving rural regions or suburban neighborhoods, these hospitals are essential to keeping communities healthy and connected to quality care.”

Each of the ScionHealth hospitals listed provides essential healthcare services to their markets and continually adapts to ensure these services meet evolving needs. Despite the challenges facing community hospitals, these facilities have consistently delivered high-quality care and have been recognized for their achievements.

Since 2023, these five ScionHealth community hospitals have collectively earned numerous accolades in addition to their inclusion in Becker’s “Great Community Hospitals” listing. These include the Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award and Outstanding Patient Experience Award; The Chartis Center for Rural Health’s list of 100 top-performing rural and community hospitals; Newsweek’s “Best-in-State Hospitals” listing; U.S. News and World Report’s Top Maternity Hospitals; and The Leapfrog Group’s “A” rating for patient safety as well as inclusion in its “Top General Hospital” list.
