Logan Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center opens in Russellville

RUSSELLVILLE, KY (November 8, 2023) – Logan Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center ‒ located at 1623 Nashville Street, MOB 3 Suite 203 in Russellville ‒ will open on November 9, 2023, to offer advanced wound care for people living with chronic, non-healing wounds. Logan Memorial Hospital has partnered with Healogics, the nation’s leading provider of advanced, chronic wound care services. Healogics is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, and has a nationwide network of over 600 Wound Care Centers®.

It is estimated that chronic wounds affect 6.7 million people in the U.S. and that number is rising, fueled by an aging population and higher rates of conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and the late effects of radiation therapy.  If left untreated, chronic wounds can lead to diminished quality of life and possibly amputation of the affected limb.

“Logan Memorial Hospital is proud to partner with Healogics to provide Logan County and the surrounding areas with expert wound care treatment,” said Andrew Bedi, CEO of Logan Memorial Hospital.  “We continue to look at ways to offer more services to our community to make sure they have  the necessary care that helps them be well and live well, and this is another important step in that direction.”

Logan Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center offers an evidence-based, systematic approach to advanced wound care. A patient’s individualized treatment plan may include specialized wound dressings, debridement, compression therapy, advanced cellular products and topical growth factors, edema management and/or non-invasive vascular assessment. These treatments are the result of a team approach between the Center’s physicians, nurses, and the referring physician. A treatment plan is developed and scheduled based on the patient’s needs. Once treatment is complete, the patient will return to their primary physician to continue routine care.

Additionally, Logan Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center will be equipped with Healogic's newest technologies, Clinical OptimizationSM and Decision SupportSM. These applications on Healogics’ WoundSuiteSM platform enable the critical connection between people living with chronic wounds and their multi-disciplinary healthcare team for collaborative, evidence-based, patient-centered care.

“Logan Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center is ready to serve the wound care needs in our community,” said Keith Cassady, Director of Logan Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center.  “One in four families has a family member with a chronic wound. Logan Memorial Wound Care Center is here to meet those families where they are and offer the healing that they need.”

Likely candidates for treatment at the Center are those suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections, compromised skin grafts and flaps, and wounds that haven't healed within a reasonable time frame. People with wounds that have not improved with traditional methods of treatment may benefit from a visit to Logan Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center. No referral is needed. Individuals can make an appointment at the Center by calling 270.725.4506.
